Bubble Crossing: Synthetic Mediart
Bubble machines, sensors, Arduino
2019
The artwork is an interactive installation that associates the flow of people with the flow of soap bubbles. Using the data visualization method, it transforms the accumulated data of human flow in an exhibition space into an abstract and poetic image.

A set of 2 ultrasonic sensors are attached to the entrance of the exhibition space. The sensors activate a pair of bubble machines as they detect visitors coming in and going out of the space. The soap liquid of each machine is tinted with different colors. During the course of the exhibition, the bubble machines continually operate and blow out soap bubbles in the air, which eventually pop and leave marks on the floor.
